We started a new tradition this Sunday. Last summer we stayed at a friend of my sister's house and their kids had made a "Welcome Fall" sign that they hung in their dining room. It was such a warm feeling to eat at their table with their children's artwork! So we decided to adopt the idea. Of course, we don't have a blank wall so we decided to hang it up high in our dining area. But Kaelyn had a lot of fun painting her first sign (with some guidance as to where to paint which colors). She doesn't "love" getting dirty, but she did have fun using her hands and fingers!! She saw us hang it up last night, but she seemed to rediscover it this morning. All of a sudden I heard her saying "Wow"..."Wow"... and I looked into the dining room and saw her standing below the sign looking up at it saying "Wow"! Too cute...
You can also see she is using her special Japanese crayons (way better than Crayola, by the way), from Mike's coworker Keiko, at the table. She LOVES using crayons now. She does like drawing on EVERYTHING but she's generally okay with using the paper as long as you continue to remind her that drawing is for paper only!
