Mikey...I mean Kaelyn...LIKES IT!

Today was the big day... Kaelyn got to try solid food. She's been showing all the signs that she's ready - watching us intently as we eat, licking her lips, etc. The doctor gave us the go ahead on Tuesday. Kaelyn is now officially 15 pounds and a little over 25 inches tall.
Anyway - Kaelyn really enjoyed her first meal of Rice Cereal. We'll keep on that for a week, then try oatmeal, and then move on to the fun stuff in jars. She's growing up fast!

Still meeting more friends!

Rain and Peter were finally able to sneak in a trip down to meet little Kaelyn. It was a fun day hanging out with them. Rain even got to feed Kaelyn her afternoon bottle!

New discovery!

I have attempted to put Kaelyn in this exersaucer for a few weeks now. She seemed to be a little overwhelmed and only last about 5 minutes in it. Last night I gave it another try while making dinner and she seemed to really love it. She was talking to the toys and even started playing with them with her hands. The chair she sits in can swivel around and she actually did a 360 all on her own, stopping to discover new toys along the way. She smiled a lot and hung out for a good 20 minutes.

And still more new faces!

Finally - we were able to get together with some of mommy's sorority sistahs. This was the first time we all got to see the two new additions, Colin (8 months) (son of Debbie and brother of Molly) and Kaelyn (4 months). Molly is almost 4 years old now and Remington (son of Christina)is 2 and a half. My how time flies. Sandy will be having a girl in July and we can't wait for her arrival!
We did all notice how we were never able to finish a conversation since the kids required constant attention. But it was fun nonetheless. A far cry from all night talk sessions back in the AXO days. We were so focused on the kids we didn't even talk about pulling any pranks - our usual conversation! Ah well, someday we'll get the kids in on it. Maybe someday Kaelyn can pretend to be the "A" word and spook the new sorority sistahs on campus. (Can't put that in print, but it's the little girl who is the ghost of the AXO house).
The best group photo we could get!! Notice how badly Remington wants a baby sister?? ;-) He did such a good job holding her.

The older kids had tons of fun in Remington's TeePee. What a fun tent!
Thanks Christina for hosting us with such short notice. It was a fun day!

Another visit!

We were lucky enough to have another visit from Auntie Nancy and cousins Kelly and Kerry. It turned out to be a pretty nice and sunny weekend so we all spent some time outside. Kaelyn again enjoyed wearing some of her more summery outfits!

The Alligator

Grandma Linda sent Kaelyn a fun box of gifts from Florida for her first Valentine's Day. Kaelyn's favorite item (well, maybe not so favorite...) is the stuffed alligator. Auntie Nancy, Kelly and Kerry were visiting and we were having some fun with Kaelyn sitting up on the couch. So we put the alligator next to her just for a size comparison...well, at first she was just happy, but then she realized she had a "friend" next to her and she wasn't so sure about it. Sure enough, she finally decided to give "Ally" a piece of her mind. She was yelling and screaming at the alligator - we finally had to remove the stuffed animal from the couch.
Funny thing, that same night we went to a seafood restaurant and to pacify Kaelyn for a while I walked her over to the lobster tank. She had the same things to say to the lobsters as she did to the alligator.
Apparently she's not so fond of funny creatures.

A special meeting

We recently went to Palm Springs to visit Mike's Uncle Dick and Aunt Phyllis (Mike's favorite aunt and uncle!!). They are there for the winter months and are enjoying the nice warm weather in S. Cali. The day we were there it was 80 degrees - and it was the warmest day Kaelyn has seen. She had a rough time adjusting - a little sweaty! But we enjoyed ourselves and Kaelyn got to wear some of her summer attire...finally!

It was neat to finally have Kaelyn meet her great aunt and uncle. They enjoyed spending some time with her.

Uncle Dick was sure to hold her and get her to smile. He didn't let floor time get in the way of his time with little Kaelyn - he just got down there with her!

Aunt Phyllis is a natural - and knew just what to do to keep her entertained!

Here is the special quilt Aunt Phyllis made for Kaelyn. We just had to make sure to get a commemorative photo with the crafter!
