Long awaited updates

I am so behind on blogging. It has been such a disruption to have lost our computer (it crashed). I'm borrowing right now which is helpful but I'm not able to be completely organized and I'm still missing our old data!! Anyway - I will post a bunch in this update and then get to the rest as soon as I'm able to get some of the pictures that Samantha has been taking. I will even be able to upload some video footage so stay tuned!

I had a few cooperative moments with Kaelyn the other day so I took advantage and got a few pics. She is really growing up. The last few months have brought about the transition to true toddlerhood. Her "getting into things" has slowed down a bit, but her learning is excelling so rapidly. She can repeat most of what we say now and does so even without our prompting. Fine motor skills are also picking up speed - as she tries new things with her little fingers. She also sings songs. It seemed like she came up with her own tune for a while now - something like kiyo kiyo. She would sing it while she was playing on her own. Finally she started doing that whenever I was picking up after her. And then when I sang the "clean up" song one day, she sang along... kiyo, kiyo. So she has been singing the clean up song all on her own (clean up, clean up, everybody everywhere; clean up , clean up, everybody do their share). It's so cute!

Kaelyn has recently uncovered a fetish for "ice" or anything out of the freezer. Anytime we go in the freezer, she asks for "ice" until she gets something. So we usually give her ice packs. Sure, we've used ice packs on owies before, and last week, we put one on her teeth while she seemed to be struggling with teething (we think the eye teeth are getting ready to come in)...but now it seems to be more about keeping cool - since it's gotten quite warm around here!

Kaelyn has taken to her own "babies" now - in addition to screaming out to all the other "real" babies that we run into out in the world. She just loves playing with her babies now and dotes on them quite frequently. She actually set them up on the step for this photo - and posed for it! Too cute. Auntie Nancy taught her how to rock, burp, and feed them - all of which she does quite well! She even has a special baby that stays in the car!

Her babies even get to use the "ice"...

Here is our budding artist. We went to the park with my working mom's group and did some finger painting. Kaelyn absolutely loves drawing. All forms. She uses color pencils a lot - and crayons. But she also spends a tons of time in the garage and on the driveway using chalk. Mike likes to pull the car out and let her have fun in the garage while he sits back and reads a magazine. :-)

Here Kaelyn has fun on the teeter toter with dad!

Here she enjoys swing time!
