A fun weekend!

We got to go to a fun birthday party yesterday for our friend Karen. It was so fun for Kaelyn and Kayla (4months) to finally meet and for all the kids to have some fun at the park.
Here's a pic of the group - Helen, Karen and I all went to graduate school together - so here we are with our husbands and kiddos. We thought it was funny that the guys have the kids...

Here is Kaelyn having fun meeting Kayla. Kayla wasn't so sure what this new small sized person was all about.

The guys got to have fun at the kiddie park trying out the slide. Can you tell they are looking forward to the toddler years??

And here is Aiden and Kaelyn - and their version of sharing!!

Growing and growing

Ready for her next trick, Kaelyn is practicing her walk. She gets quite the thrill out of taking steps!

Another rare picture of mommy and her baby girl...not such a baby anymore ;-(

New Trick!

As soon as I posted the blog yesterday I turned around and Kaelyn showed me her new trick. Yup - she can pull herself up to a standing position. She's been working hard at this for a week now, but I really thought it would take her another week. Just after this picture, she sat down and then did it all over again. Now she's pulling herself up on all sorts of things. Ah. The weekend will be spent babyproofing!

Fun with food!

As I mentioned, Kaelyn really likes to eat - ANYTHING! She is now really into finger food which is so much easier for us. No more blending - she can just eat whatever we eat. She loves chasing peas and cheerios around her table top. Sometimes she even tries to share with us!
She just got her second tooth this week - on July 8th (Happy Birthday Kerry!)! It's right next to the other one on the bottom. So she officially has "two front teeth!"

Success! She got one and proudly shows it off! Can you see her tooth?

Okay - so she can't eat large pieces of finger food yet. I gave her a piece of cauliflower that was a little big and this is her reaction after trying to chew it for a minute. It was like she was saying "c'mon mom, are you kidding me?"

Sleepyhead

I had to wake Kaelyn up from a nap the other day and I couldn't resist taking some photos! It's a rare opportunity to be next to her with a camera while she sleeps!
She just loves to snuggle so tightly with her little bear/blankie. She smushes her nose right into it all night long.

And once she wakes up and sees you standing there - it's the world's biggest smile! Such happiness. How could you not have a good day after seeing that?!!

Family and Friends

This entry requires some background information: Mike's friend Chris was born 6 weeks before Mike and lived right next to him until he was in gradeschool. Their moms (Laura and Ruth) were great friends and kept each other company while the boys got into trouble. Fast forward 20+ years and both Mike and Chris end up in San Diego....Chris and Megan's twins, Lucie and Ryan (see blog on right) are now almost 3. Well, wouldn't ya know, all the families were coincidentally in town for the 4th and we got to visit over dinner. It was a great time and so nice to see everyone.

Kaelyn really likes the boys - and it turns out the older ones are just fine too!

Here Chris and Ryan are giving Kaelyn a lession on how to send a text message!

Happy Fourth of July!

Grandma and Grandpa came down to visit for the 4th and this was Kaelyn's first opportunity to experience the campground! Quite the challenge with a crawler because we couldn't really put her down - but it'll get more fun as she gets older...we can tell!

Shoulder time rather than crawling time!!

Auntie Jen's friends Lisa and Matt happened to be staying at the same campground. They have twin girls, Camryn and Payton (2.5), and an older son who was off riding his bike! The girls were enthralled with "the baby" and Kaelyn was enjoying watching them play around and get dirty! Kaelyn LOVEs kids!!
